I'm Juan Jara

My responsibilities comprise of creating, maintaining, and updating a Design System Package (DPS) for our department’s software design projects. I meet with internal clients to create digital solutions to their business needs through the user centered design approach. As a design lead, my responsibility rests in understanding how much projects will cost and how much time and resources will be needed. I also leverage my experience in web design, marketing, and motion graphics to market our internal solutions to the company saving our department thousands of dollars in project management acquisition of media departments. Such an example would include an onsite shoot of a promotional video in New Jersey filming a video for a product release.

Our team designed the app and website for united airlines. My role specialized in all use cases for users who have already bought a ticket and wish to made adjustments like change flight, cancel, upgrade or edit information. I was the lead designer for the MileagePlus miles pool which is a new feature being launched by United airlines. Given my background in higher education with UX design and Figma, I was brought into the design system team to give my wisdom and experience with design systems and more importantly, Figma. Our team was transitioning from Sketch to Figma and I prepared lesson plans and information architecture models for when the transition was official. I was often borrowed from the team to construct master components for the design system when time was available.

I designed the first 300 level UX/UI Design Course at North Central College. I was also the first student to express interest in UX at NCC and tailored an individualized major for my Bachelors. My responsibilities are to make lesson plans, assign course projects, evaluate the student’s work, and offer professional advice on career development.
